French restaurants in Marseille

French and Provencal restaurants in Marseille, from neighbourhood bistros to fine dining, with addresses, map, hours and directions.

  • Updated October 2026

French cuisine in Marseille leans toward the Mediterranean: fish and seafood, vegetables from Provence, olive oil and herbs, alongside classic bistro dishes. You will find everything from relaxed lunch spots in the Panier to seaside terraces and refined tasting menus.

  • Book for dinner and weekends, as small dining rooms fill up quickly.
  • Look at the set menu at lunch, which is often the best value way to try a kitchen.
  • Tell the restaurant about allergies or dietary needs when booking.
  • Choose the setting: harbour view, shaded terrace or quiet courtyard, since it changes the whole evening.

Fish is often sold by weight in traditional places, so ask the price before ordering the catch of the day.
